Thanks to the kind cooperation of the University Library Leipzig, we are delighted to offer conference participants the opportunity to join a guided tour in English of the exhibition “The Sensory and the Supersensory World: Wilhelm Wundt and the Psychology of Leipzig” at the Bibliotheca Albertina.

Date: Thursday, 4 September 2025
Time: 2.30 – 3.30
Location: Bibliotheca Albertina Exhibition Room, Beethovenstr. 6, Leipzig
Admission: Free of charge
Maximum number of participants: 25

This exhibition is dedicated to Wilhelm Wundt (1832–1920), who founded the world’s first institute for experimental psychology at the University of Leipzig in 1875. Wundt’s groundbreaking work laid the foundation for psychology as an independent academic discipline. Drawing on a wide range of objects from the University of Leipzig’s collections, the exhibition explores his life, research, and influence on various fields, from philosophy to ethnology and the now historical discipline of Völkerpsychologie.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view original experimental apparatus such as tuning forks, colour discs, and speech analysis tools, and to gain insight into Wundt’s attempts to understand human consciousness through empirical methods.

This one-hour tour offers a unique chance to explore an important chapter in the history of psychology — right where it began.

Please note: This tour is not part of the official conference programme. You must be registered as a congress participant in order to proceed with the booking.

Registration is required. Places are limited to 25 participants.
